Okay, so we all know democracy is flawed, but this weekend I experienced the beauties of democracy: freedom of speech and freedome to assemble.
As I mentioned in my previous entry, I've become so fed up with Taiwan's government that I've decided to go on the street to demonstrate just how unhappy I am.
I'm sure most of you who cares to read my blog knows how difficult it is to be "Green" in Taipei! I mean we practically had to hide our political preference in order to survive this "Blue" city. Of course our national embarassment former president A-bien did not help. When people around you start talking about how crappy A-bien is, there's really not much you can do but to keep quiet.
BUT, as the saying goes, "What comes around, goes around!" Oh yeah...it came around alright, thanks to Mr. Ma and his cabinet.
So on Saturday 10/25/2008, I was a member of the 60,000 people (as reported by the news channel, so give and take 40,000) that took to the streets to demonstrate how pissed off we are at the mess Mr. Ma's government has created, especially how he is selling us out to China.
There were moments during the march that I was so overwhelmed with emotions that tears almost came rushing out. It's one of those experience that can't be describe through words, but must be lived! We Taiwanese should truely be proud of who we are and our independence. The freedom we have today was hard fought and we definitely should not let some idiot handed over to China just like that!
Here are some pictures from that day, you gotta handed to them, they sure are creative in expressing their anger!!
